Meerkat Manor

Some time ago Pink Chihuahua Princess posted a comment on her blog about a show on The Animal Planet & I thought I would check it out & I really got hooked! I even put a meerkat wallpaper on my desktop.    *s*

Aren't I cute?

The show centers around the lives of a group of about 40 or so meerkats called the Whiskers that live in the Kalahari Desert which is located in southern Africa. It really is very informative and interesting. The season finale was a real cliffhanger but the new series will begin September 29th & I am definitely gonna watch it.

I Did Something!

The other day I did something that made me look drop-dead gorgeous...well, not in this lifetime! How about this? I did something that made me look perfect. No, that's not even close! Let me just say that I did something that made look nice better.

For fun, I have created a mini poll, of sorts. Would you like to try to guess what I did? If so, just leave your choice in the comment section.   *s*

What Did Chi Do?

1. Had a face lift
2. Lost 40 lbs
3. Had an extreme makeover
4. Had a haircut & color
5. Other

If you'd rather not guess, you can find the answer in my sidebar. *s*

I would like to apologize to any friends that may have stopped by to check my blog & there was nothing new added but more importantly, I would really like to apologize for not visiting many blogs these past few days. I have not been feeling quite up to par but am starting to improve so you will see me at your blog soon. *s*

Happy Monday, Everyone!

I found this quiz at Blowing In The Wind and she found it at Thanks For The Memories so, even knowing that my results would not be very good, I decided to give it a go. *s*

You Are a Lazy Cook

Technically, you're a cook... in that you do cook the occasional frozen burrito in the microwave. Get a little adventurous. Sprinkle some fresh cheese on that frozen pizza next time!

Hey, at least I AM a cook...technically! LOL

Let's Boogie! I couldn't resist adding this...I think it is just so cute...and I love the music! *s*

I have never seen a UFO but there are lots of people that apparently have seen one so I think that it may be likely that there are other life forms out there in this vast expanse somewhere. Have you ever sighted a UFO?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Due to the above, it stands to reason that I have never seen an alien either (except ET & in other movies) nor have I been abducted by one but surely that would be a frightening experience for anyone and again, I have heard lots of stories about alien abductions.

Oh, wait! Is it possible that the infamous Mr K is really an alien life form???    *grin*

I haven't posted one of these in a while & since I can't think of anything interesting to blog about, I decided a quote was in order. LOL

No man who has once heartily and wholly laughed can be altogether irreclaimably bad.

Happy Monday, Y'all!

My 100th Post

Since this is my 100th post, I thought I would write about friendship because that is one of the most important things in my life. This may seem contradictory but it is easier for me to be a friend than it is for someone to be my friend. I am sure it is because I am a quiet, introverted person --
in fact, I have been called a snob, for that very reason -- but that is far from true.  *s*    It just takes time & a bit of effort to get to know the real me. LOL

I have some wonderful friends & most (not all) tend to be extroverts. My best friend is also outgoing. Isn't that Curious? She knows the real me & likes me anyway.   hahaha   Maybe it isn't so odd that I gravitate towards extroverts because they usually have a great sense of humor & I love to laugh!

My beloved Keely Shaye

You may be asking yourself, What does a chihuahua have to do with friendship? Well, Keely Shaye taught me what it means to be a friend so that is why I added her to this post. She taught me about loyalty, acceptance, & unconditional love. She was my 4-legged best friend and I miss her so very much but have come to understand that her mission was complete & it was time for her to go but she is always in my heart.

My Thoughts & A Joke

Regarding my post below about the JonBenet Ramsey case, I would like to add that I am not absolutely convinced that Karr is guilty...and I do believe in presumed innocence. I just hope that justice prevails & if he is innocent, he will be released.

Now, a joke:

What Do Retired People Do All Day?

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make
their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day the Bubba & Babette went into town and went into a shop. They were only in there for about 5 minutes & when they came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket.

They walked up to him and Bubba said, "Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?" He ignored Bubba and continued writing the ticket so Bubba called him a jerk. The cop glared at him and started writing another ticket for having worn tires.

So Babette called him a Georgia redneck. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more they verbally abused him, the more tickets he wrote.

Bubba & Babette didn't care. They came into town by bus but try to have a little fun each day now since retirement.

JonBenet Ramsey

At last! They have made an arrest in the JonBenet Ramsey case. John Mark Karr has admitted his guilt in this horrendous crime & will be extradited from Bangkok to Colorado. I am happy to hear this & am sure that her parents now feel vindicated & relieved....even though her momma didn't live long enough to witness the arrest.

Green Tea, Anyone?

"Better to be deprived of food for three days, than tea for one."
(Ancient Chinese Proverb)

I have recently started drinking green tea as I read that it could possibly help prevent cancer. I also did an online search & found more benefits of green tea.

To learn more about these benefits, you may visit The Miracle Of Green Tea and The Many Benefits Of Green Tea.

On a personal note, I have chosen the Lipton brand of green tea and it tastes really good to me. *s*

A Monday Smile For You

Latest Update on D

First, I want to thank each of you for your prayers & well wishes for D.
They are greatly appreciated.

He may possibly get to return home today. He is taking antibiotics and will need to be hooked up to oxygen at night. His momma wants him to go to a weight loss clinic but he doesn't really want to do that. *sigh* However, he did tell his dad that he would consider the gastric bypass surgery so we are hopeful.

Sharing Tidbits

It is really hard for me to imagine that my granddaughter is growing up. She started kindergrten on Friday. She cried & when my daughter got back to her car, she cried too. It is quite a milestone for both of them. *s*

Also, my daughter will be moving into her new home this week so I will lose Chance soon. He is a wonderful dog & I will miss him but I told the infamous Mr K that I would like to visit the animal shelter in October & see about adopting a dog but am not sure I want to wait that long.

My neighbor has a dog that is very old & has some health issues so I will need to make sure that the dog we get will be friendly towards Sir Frederick....that is a must but I should be able to see how he reacts to the other dogs in the shelter, I think, so that is a plus.

I Am Not Sure I Agree With This Quote

The sign of intelligent people is their ability to control emotions by the application of reason.
- Marya Mannes

I am, by no means, a genius but do consider myself to have at least a modicum amount of intelligence and I am admitting that my emotions tend to take precedence over reason more often than not. I do understand why she believes this to be true...I just disagree. Then again, perhaps if I allowed reason to rule more, I might become smarter. *smile*

Did You Know that...

each June is Adopt A Shelter Kitty month? I didn't either but the NY ASPCA held a photo contest & if you would like to see the winners, just click here. Also, October is apparently the month to adopt a shelter dog/puppy. *s*

It's Party Time!

Our friend, Carmen is having a blogwarming party this weekend...and you are invited! Head on over to her place for lots of fun, food, & laughter! See you there! *s*

Update on D

My stepson, D, is in the hospital...apparently, he fell in his home & couldn't get up so the paramedics were called. The drs ran some tests & think he may possibly have a blood clot in his lung so a specialist was supposed to see him yesterday. I haven't heard any more news bacause my phone & isp was down virtually all day/night yesterday.

His dad is going to call him this morning after work so I am hopeful that the news will be much better. He also plans to go visit him on Sunday.

Setting The Record Straight...

For those of you that "know" me, I am sure that you realize that I will never be the brightest star in the night sky & for those that don't know it & this should confirm it:

I tend to go barefoot most of the time indoors or out. Well, sometimes that is not smart! Today, while fixing a bite to eat, I dropped hot cheese sauce on my foot...ouch!! My toes feel like they are on fire! Will I ever learn? I doubt it!   LOL

Just Expressing Thoughts

It was a sleepless night for me so I watched tv & found this show on the National Geographic channel called Pet MDs that was very interesting to me. One of the cases on this episode was a little 12 year old dog that was blind due to cataracts so I paid great attention to what they said because my chi, Sheba, is also 12 & has the same problem.

My vet said that she could not do cataract surgery on Sheba but this hospital was much larger & surgery was an option for this little dog. However, the vet on the show discovered that the cataracts had completely destroyed the retinas & so removing the cataracts would not help him to see again. He also said that this is what happens in quite a number of cases.

When Sheba was first diagnosed, I really thought about finding a vet that had the means to do cataract surgery but I also considered her age and I finally decided it would just be best for Sheba to let her lead as normal a life as possible for as long as she can.

Sheba has turned into a couch potato but when she needs to be taken outdoors or needs to eat/drink, she will bark to let me know she needs help getting off the couch. It is a system that works well for the both of us. *s*

It's Monday!

I have never been so happy to see Monday roll around...the yard sale is over, thank goodness! The infamous Mr K decided he really didn't want to do the sale this year so I spent the entire weekend trying to sell.

Saturday was a really slow day too. I am sure that the heat & the price of gas kept lots of people away. Sunday was a little more productive though & I made a few dollars. Guess what? I bought a vanity set, a picture frame, & a dress. *s*

Today, I am just going to try to relax & enjoy the quiet. Happy Monday, y'all!!

I Barely...

survived the longest yard sale yesterday. Would you like to hear how the day way went? It was really a fiasco!

For starters, the heat was almost unbearable most of the day (although we did get an occasional breeze from time to time). Then a yellow jacket flew down my shirt & decided he was a tad bit hungry...ouch!! By mid afternoon, I had a migraine headache the size of Texas (*smile*) which started making me feel really ill so I decided it was time to shut down for the day. To top it off, I sold virtually nothing all day!

I am hopeful that the infamous Mr K will take my place today but we shall see. *s*
